What We Assemble
John Lewis sell a wide variety of furniture that requires assembly — from their popular Mix It modular wardrobe system through to premium veneered flat pack and complete nursery sets. We have assembled all of their product ranges and understand the specific requirements of each.
Mix It Wardrobes
John Lewis's modular wardrobe system is broadly comparable to IKEA PAX but with heavier components and a higher quality finish. Expect approximately 90 minutes per frame with doors — around 30 minutes longer than the equivalent PAX due to the additional weight and more substantial fixings.
The range is less flexible than PAX in terms of internal accessories, but the overall product is excellent when assembled correctly.
Mix It Chest of Drawers
The Mix It chest range allows you to mix and match frames and drawer fronts for a variety of contemporary finishes. Typical assembly time is 30 minutes for the frame plus 10 minutes per drawer.
Veneered Flat Pack
John Lewis are one of the very few retailers who sell genuine veneered flat pack furniture. When assembled correctly, it is virtually indistinguishable from solid wood or non-flat-pack furniture. Typically around one hour per wardrobe.
Sliding Door Wardrobes
John Lewis sell a range of sliding door wardrobes in their veneered flat pack range. The small sliding door wardrobe typically takes 90 minutes. Larger systems take proportionally longer.
Nursery Furniture
John Lewis sell complete nursery sets — cots, cotbeds, changing tables, and wardrobes. A typical nursery set takes 2–3 hours depending on the number of items and the available space.
All our assemblers are trained to British Standards for nursery furniture and children's beds — including bunk beds, loft beds, cabin beds, midsleepers, and high sleepers — via flatpack.org.uk.
All Other John Lewis Furniture
Beds, dining furniture, office furniture, shelving, and storage — if John Lewis sell it and it needs assembling, we can do it. Send us your full list for a fixed price quote.
Typical John Lewis Jobs & Assembly Times

| Mix It chest of drawers (4 drawer) | 70 | Frame 30 mins + 10 mins per drawer |

What Makes John Lewis Furniture Different
John Lewis furniture is generally well-made and straightforward to assemble when you know what to expect. Here are the key points to be aware of:
Heavier Than IKEA
Mix It wardrobe frames are substantially heavier than their IKEA PAX equivalents. This means assembly takes longer and two people are required for some stages — particularly standing the frames upright. Our assemblers are experienced with this and plan accordingly.
Less Flexible Internally
The Mix It system does not have the same range of internal accessories as IKEA PAX. The KOMPLEMENT equivalent range is more limited. If you are expecting PAX-level flexibility, check the John Lewis website carefully before ordering.
Veneered Furniture Requires Care
The veneered flat pack range is premium quality but requires careful handling. The veneer can be damaged if panels are dragged across floors or leant against rough surfaces. We take particular care with these products.
Nursery Furniture — Safety First
John Lewis nursery furniture must be assembled to the correct standard. All fixings must be fully tightened, wall-fixing must be completed where specified, and the cot or cotbed must pass a stability check before use.
Wall-Fixing for Wardrobes
Mix It wardrobes and tall storage units must be fixed to the wall. This is not optional — it is a safety requirement. We carry out all wall-fixing as standard.
All our assemblers are trained to British Standards for attaching furniture to the wall — via flatpack.org.uk.
