Bunk Beds Must Be Built Right
Bunk beds, cabin beds, and loft beds are among the most safety-critical furniture items in any home. A child sleeps at height. A ladder must be secure. Guard rails must be correctly fitted and able to withstand the forces a child can apply. Every joint must be properly tightened.
We treat every bunk bed assembly as a safety job first and a furniture job second. We follow the manufacturer's assembly sequence exactly, complete every safety check, and will not leave until we are satisfied the bed is safe.
Our Safety Commitment
- Every joint checked and tightened to specification
- Guard rails fitted and tested for correct retention
- Ladder secured at both top and bottom fixing points
- Slats correctly seated — no gaps, no movement
- Full stability test before we leave
- 12-month guarantee on all assembly work
All our assemblers are trained to British Standards for nursery furniture and children's beds — including bunk beds, loft beds, cabin beds, midsleepers, and high sleepers — via flatpack.org.uk.
Bunk & Cabin Bed Types We Build
Standard Bunk Beds
Two-tier bunk beds with ladder. We build bunk beds from all major suppliers — IKEA, Argos, Dreams, Wayfair, Stompa, Thuka, and more. Safety checks completed on every job.
Cabin Beds
Mid-sleeper cabin beds with under-bed storage, desk, or play area. Cabin beds have more components than standard beds — we follow the manufacturer sequence exactly.
Loft Beds
High sleeper loft beds with full under-bed workspace or storage. Loft beds are the most complex children's bed type — our assemblers have specific experience with all major loft bed ranges.
Triple Bunk Beds
Three-tier bunk beds and L-shaped bunk configurations. These require careful assembly and are always wall-fixed for safety.
Bunk Beds with Storage
Bunk beds with built-in drawers, shelving, or storage stairs. Drawer alignment and smooth operation included.
Convertible Bunk Beds
Bunk beds that convert to two single beds. We assemble in bunk configuration and can advise on the conversion process.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bunk & Cabin Beds
Do you wall-fix bunk beds?
Yes, and for triple bunk beds and loft beds we include wall-fixing as standard. For standard bunk beds, we strongly recommend wall-fixing and will advise on the day. Wall-fixing provides additional stability and is particularly important in children's rooms where the bed may be subject to more movement than a standard adult bed.
What safety checks do you carry out?
We carry out the following safety checks on every bunk, cabin, and loft bed: all joints tightened to specification; guard rails fitted and tested for correct retention height (minimum 160mm above the mattress surface); ladder secured at all fixing points; slats correctly seated with no gaps; full stability test (we physically test the bed by applying lateral and vertical force). We will not leave until we are satisfied the bed is safe.
How long does bunk bed assembly take?
A standard bunk bed typically takes 1.5–2 hours. A cabin bed with storage takes 2–3 hours. A loft bed with desk takes 2–3 hours. A triple bunk bed takes 2.5–3.5 hours. We price by complexity, not by time, so your fixed price does not change regardless of how long the job takes.
Do you build IKEA bunk beds?
Yes. We build all IKEA children's beds including KURA, STUVA, MYDAL, TUFFING, and SVÄRTA. See our dedicated IKEA assembly service page for full details.
Can you build a bunk bed in a small room?
Yes, in most cases. We are experienced at working in tight spaces. The main constraint is having enough space to lay out the panels during assembly. For a standard bunk bed, we need roughly 2m × 2m of clear floor space. Contact us with your room dimensions if you are concerned about space.
